Born in 1991 in Uşak, Turkey, Batıkan Bostancı was introduced to art at an early age. After graduating from Uşak Fine Arts High School, he gained hands-on experience in sculpture by working with various artists in Antalya. In 2010, he began his undergraduate studies in Sculpture at Anadolu University. His 2014 series Seeing and Reading the Past drew attention and was exhibited within the university. That same year, he moved to Istanbul and began working as an assistant on Bahadır Baruter’s Mukadderat series, marking his entry into professional art practice. From 2016 to 2023, he worked as an assistant to İrfan Önürmen. Today, he continues his independent artistic production at his studio in Ataşehir, Istanbul.
Batıkan Bostancı’s practice combines sculpture, relief, painting on canvas, and digital media to construct a multilayered narrative language. Through transformed materials, he explores themes such as personal memory, spatial orientation, and the relationship between the city and the individual. His works merge material diversity with conceptual depth, offering viewers both physical and intellectual spaces for exploration.
In his production, formal inquiry is as significant as conceptual engagement. Concepts like body, space, and memory are often reinterpreted through abstract forms. This approach invites viewers to engage with the work through their own experiences and perceptions.
