5+1 WHY ARTOPOL?: BORAN GÜNDAY

5+1 WHY ARTOPOL?: BORAN GÜNDAY

1) Why art?

I have been involved with art since my childhood; the place where I can give the most of myself and feel most at home has always been within art and among those who practice it. Drawing and creating was a pursuit I inherited from my mother… Being an artist, like any profession, is a means of living. But what sets our profession apart is finding a space where our emotions and thoughts can be freely expressed. That’s why art.

2) How would you describe your art in five words?

Emotional, expressive, symbolic, ritualistic, and vivid.

3) If your works could speak, what would they say to the viewer?

They would probably speak about their fleeting emotions and moods. In my works, the abstracted expressions of people are present. The names I give to each piece can also provide insight into their characters. The people in my portraits are expressive about themselves, talkative at times, sometimes reflective, and always driven by human emotions.

4) Do you have a memorable moment in your art journey?

Every moment is special in its own way; the meanings we assign define their importance. However, the first thing that comes to mind is the message I received when I sold my first painting.

5) Do you have any peculiar obsessions, and do they reflect in your art?

Yes, every artist has indispensable obsessive thoughts; the ideas we chase and ideals we pursue are what create our work. My “obsession” is the dependency and attachment to human feelings and emotions.

+1 Why Artopol?

Artopol because it has a vibrant, energetic team made up of warm people, a professional gallery that supports its work, and, speaking for myself, it provides a platform for young artists who want to present their works to the public.
