5+1 WHY ARTOPOL?: MELİS RAGUSİN
1) Why art?
I love communicating with people, meeting new people, and listening to their perspectives on life. Sometimes there are moments when I think, “What a beautiful perspective,” and take it as an example. Art is a perfect way to express myself, share my inner world, and sometimes convey what I cannot put into words. Imagining and creating nourishes me immensely. Art nourishes everyone, inspires, and provokes thought. It breaks us out of conventional patterns and offers different viewpoints. Everything we see affects us differently and contributes to the development of humanity.
2) How would you describe your art in five words?
“Inner World,” “Creating,” “Exploring,” “Feeling,” “Connecting”
3) If your works could speak, what would they say to the viewer?
What emotions did the colors evoke in you?
Touch me, feel the different textures.
What did the combination of textures and colors make you feel?
Did you find a piece of yourself in it?
4) Do you have a memorable moment in your art journey?
One of my first works was put up for sale on social media by my children’s art teacher, and the next day she called me saying, “Melis, you won’t believe it, your artwork sold in one day.” I was filled with surprise, happiness, and excitement. The quick sale of my first artwork gave me incredible motivation.
5) Do you have any peculiar obsessions, and do they reflect in your art?
Being impatient can sometimes negatively affect the outcome when working on a piece. But sometimes it works out really well. Since I work with different techniques, I must pay attention to every step and progress gradually, listening to the voice of my imagination at each stage. If I move too quickly, I might miss a step. Giving my imagination time leads to better results.
+1 Why Artopol?
The fact that Artopol brings together artists of different styles is very important to me. There are carefully selected works and sculptures from many different fields. It is a gallery open to diversity and innovation. I create in multiple disciplines, and Artopol is a gallery that supports this. Its warmth and lack of rigid conventions made me feel like I belong here.
