About The Artist

Born in Kayseri in 1953, he graduated from the Mustafa Aslıer Workshop at the State Academy of Applied Fine Arts in 1978. Throughout his career, he produced works in graphics, illustration, and caricature in Turkey and Europe; his works were accepted into the Basel Museum of Plastic Arts and Caricature. Since 2002, he has worked as a lecturer at Erciyes University Faculty of Fine Arts. The artist is recognized as an important teacher and reference figure in Turkish art history for his academic contributions and the students he has trained. Throughout his artistic life, he stood out with his distinctive style in painting, and his choice of materials also showcased his originality. He generally preferred antique woods in his paintings—living materials that have witnessed human stories and possess a soul, which he believed nourished the concept of his works. In his sculptures, he maintained the same sensibility through his material choices. With an effortless understanding of beauty, he offered the viewer an aesthetic, pure, calm, warm, and sincere expression.

He stands out with a practice that brings the past and the future together in a dialectical process. In his hands, ordinary objects transform into contemporary icons, making the continuity of memory, the fragility of time, and the inevitability of transformation visible. His works open the doors to an imaginative journey ranging from uncertainty to possibility. His academic identity and intergenerational knowledge transfer remove his practice from mere individuality, giving it a contribution that shapes the Turkish art scene.
