About The Artist

Born in 1977 in Bulgaria, Şenay Ulusoy graduated from the Sculpture Department of Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts. She received the Sculpture Achievement Award at the 65th State Painting and Sculpture Competition in 2004, an Honorable Mention at the 31st Turgut Pura Foundation International Sculpture Competition in 2012, and the Grand Prize at the Bazaart Art Competition in 2015. Her travels to the Far East to study sculpture art on-site have provided an important cultural foundation for her artistic practice.

Ulusoy interprets existentialist concepts such as fear, anxiety, and the absurd using organic materials like cotton, fabric, and wool felt, often emphasizing the transience of life and mortality through a humorous tone. Blending the oral, symbolic, and narrative traditions of Eastern culture with the conceptual and analytical approach of the West, she builds a poetic bridge between the two worlds in her works.
