Ayhan Türker, who captures the exquisite beauty of Istanbul in his oil paintings and brings an almost otherworldly dimension to art with his fairy-tale style, is one of the most important painters of the 20th and 21st centuries. We recognize that the loss of Ayhan Türker, whose artistic career spanned over 50 years, has deeply affected not only us but also countless art enthusiasts.
Ayhan Türker produced highly significant works for his time, and we take pride in knowing that these works will be passed down through generations and continue to influence many periods to come. We also feel fortunate to have the honor of presenting these works in our gallery.
Carrying and reflecting highly valuable oil and watercolor works from past to present, Ayhan Türker held his first exhibition in 1985 at the Vakko Art Gallery. Since then, he has introduced his works to art lovers through numerous exhibitions.
His oil paintings, which particularly reflect the magical side of Istanbul, are still followed with great appreciation today, thanks to his ability to depict the city's beauty from a unique artistic perspective. While his works often feature still life and landscape elements, Ayhan Türker also created portrait works, including an Atatürk Portrait, which is housed in our gallery.
Recognized in art circles as the "Impressionist of Istanbul," Ayhan Türker was the subject of the book “An Istanbul Impressionist: Ayhan Türker,” written by Professor Kaya Özsezgin.
The works brought to life by Ayhan Türker are now included in various museums and private collections both in Turkey and abroad.
Following Ayhan Türker, we can say that his artistic philosophy, worldview, and half-century of continuous creation—always noticing every nuance and transferring it to canvas with extraordinary skill—serve as an inspiration. Like all of us who feel fortunate to share a generation with such a talented artist, we hope that this ending will be a beginning, and we look forward to seeing the same dedication and passion for art in future generations.
