“ORBITALS” By QUASIMITHO EXHIBITION

Artopol Art Gallery will host the solo exhibition “ORBITALS” by artist İsmail Ceyhun Helvacı, known in the art world as Quasimotho, from December 28, 2022 – January 10, 2023. The artist, whose works are included in numerous international collections, presents pieces from his ORBITALS series, developed over months and inspired by the philosophy of the “orbital symptom variable.”

Nietzsche, through a Jungian lens, reinterprets the concepts of “Apollo” and “Dionysus” in a visual expression. For Apollo, themes of order, harmony, and control nurture hedonic drives, while Dionysus dictates images shaped by wild, exuberant emotions and passions. In the objectivity of the presentation, art and aesthetics reshape these images. At the core of Nietzsche’s and Jung’s analyses lies a discussion of the order formed around human energy centers. This order recalls the orbitals redefined by modern science. Beyond a body or object, beyond the individual, beyond the image… The invisible stance of the subtext is revealed through simplified color forms, brightness, and subtle soft transitions, supported by visible resonances using rare modulation techniques, creating a participatory experience for the viewer. The cumulative arrangement of colors in specific orbits and the hidden breath within the whole can be interpreted according to the algorithmic order of the orbitals, presenting the variable orbital symptoms.

Continuing his work as an academic, the artist’s 19th solo exhibition is curated by Dilara Orhan. The “ORBITALS” by Quasimotho exhibition will be open to visitors from December 28, 2022 – January 10, 2023, between 10:00 – 22:00 at Artopol Gallery, 42 Maslak.
